Journaling for Self Growth!
Journaling for me has been life changing. I have started journaling two years back and it has helped me a lot in my journey. Journaling does show us the blueprint of our mind and our thought process.
When you start Journaling,
you will recognize immediately how uncertain our mind is. Everyday start writing and you will have a good analysis of your thoughts. Certainly, you
will know how our mind switches from different topics with or without any links
to it. Journaling does create a structure to follow and plan to go through it.
I use 2 diaries for
journaling. One for my daily activities and another for self-growth. We are
going to discuss here Self-growth journaling. I have put a few divisions in this dairy.
1. Goals and plans
for career
2. My Personal Life
3. My Learnings
As per your convenience
you can add some more divisions or any specific division.
How does Journaling help?
1. Journaling Generates Clarity And Congruence
This keystone habit has so much power! By
journaling in the morning and evening, you’ll quickly see the incongruencies in
your life.
You’ll see crystal-clearly what needs to be removed
and what should be included in your life. Journaling is a beautiful and
powerful facilitator of self-discovery.
Not only will you have more clarity about your path
in life, but journaling improves your ability to make small and large
decisions along the way.
On the pages of your journal will be the future
world you are creating for yourself. You are the author of your life’s story. You
have the power to create whatever life you want. As the designer of your world,
get as detailed as you desire.
2. Journaling Ingrains Your Learning
Humans
are bad at retaining information. We forget most of what we read and hear.
However, when you write down the things you’ve learned, you retain them far
better. Even if you never re-read what you’ve written, the simple act of
writing something down increases
brain development and memory.
Neurologically,
when you listen to something, a different part of your brain is engaged than
when you write it down. Memory recorded by listening does not discriminate important
from non-important information. However, writing creates spatial regions
between important and non-important pieces of information — allowing your
memory to target and ingrain the important stuff you want to remember.
Furthermore,
the act of writing allows your subconscious mind to work out problems in unique
ways, intensifying the learning process. You’ll be able to work out problems
and get insights while you ponder and write about the things you’re learning.
3. Journaling Accelerates Your Ability To Manifest Your
Goals
As part of your morning creative burst, use
your journal to review and hone your daily to-do list. Review and hone your
life vision and big-picture goals.
As you read and re-write your goals
daily, they’ll become forged into your subconscious mind. Eventually, your
dreams and vision will consume your inner world and quickly become your
physical reality.
4. Journaling Optimizes Your Creative Potential
Creators
focus on outputs rather than the general populace who focus on inputs. In their
free moments, creators utilize their subconscious breakthroughs. Their days are
filled with creative bursts, making them incredible at their craft.
5. Journaling for Mental
Health
When you were a teenager, you might have kept a diary hidden under your
mattress. It was a place to confess your struggles and fears without judgment
or punishment. It likely felt good to get all of those thoughts and feelings
out of your head and down on paper. The world seemed clearer.
You may have stopped using a diary once you reached adulthood. But the
concept and its benefits still apply. Now it’s called journaling. It's simply
writing down your thoughts and feelings to understand them more clearly. And if
you struggle with stress, depression, or anxiety, keeping a journal is a great
idea. It can help you gain control of your emotions and improve your mental
health
How to journal
Try these tips to help you get started with journaling:
Try to write
every day
Set aside a few
minutes every day to write. This will help you to write in your journal
regularly.
Make it easy
Keep a pen and paper handy at all times. Then when you want to write down
your thoughts, you can. You can also keep a journal in a computer file.
Write whatever
feels right
Your journal
doesn't need to follow any certain structure. It's your own private place to
discuss whatever you want. Let the words flow freely. Don't worry about
spelling mistakes or what other people might think.
Use your
journal as you see fit
You don't have
to share your journal with anyone. If you do want to share some of your
thoughts with trusted friends and loved ones, you could show them parts of your
journal.
“Keeping a personal journal a daily in-depth analysis and evaluation of your experiences is a high-leverage activity that increases self-awareness and enhances all the endowments and the synergy among them.”
