Being more Grateful!
We all in our life are looking for
success in different areas of life like personal, professional, social,
Monetary etc. You will agree with me that most of the time instead of
appreciating the things we have, which we have more than enough, we often
complain about things or circumstances.
While more we complain or blame
the situation, we attract more of such things. Why not be grateful instead?
Make a list of things you have right now, you will understand how much we have
at present, with us and by being grateful you will attract more abundance to
you.
Benefits of Being Grateful
·
Gratitude improves psychological health
·
Gratitude enhances empathy and reduces aggression
·
Grateful people sleep better
·
Gratitude improves self-esteem
·
Gratitude increases mental strength
The Effects of Gratitude Last Longer Than You Think
Feeling and expressing gratitude can make you
happy in the moment—just think back to the joy you felt the last time a friend
helped you out or your partner cooked a gourmet dinner—and a growing mound of
evidence shows that giving thanks can also have a lasting effect on your mood.
One study found that people who wrote and delivered a heartfelt thank-you letter
actually felt happier for a full month after, and the same researchers
discovered that writing down three positive events each day for a week kept
happiness levels high for up to six months.
Why is gratitude important?
·
It
strengthens our connections with people
·
It lets
people know we aren’t the type to take things for granted.
·
It reinforces
generous behavior.
·
It increases
feelings of security and connectedness.
·
It squeezes
out negative feelings.
·
It helps with
depression
Thinking about all you have to
appreciate can boost your happiness and your overall sense of well-being,
according to psychologists.
What Grateful People Have in Common
Of course, the actual goal isn't
to have a notebook full of your declarations of gratitude, but rather to make
gratitude a default feeling. There are four primary characteristics of grateful people, and
these are the ones that thank-you notes and a gratitude journal can help tap,
strengthen, and invigorate. People who experience the most gratitude (and
therefore the positive effects) tend to:
·
Feel a sense of abundance in their lives
·
Appreciate the contributions of others to their well-being
·
Recognize and enjoy life's small pleasures
·
Acknowledge the importance of experiencing and expressing gratitude
Some ways to practice gratitude
· --Keep a gratitude journal.
· --Tell an employee or a friend something you appreciate about them.
· --Look at yourself in the mirror and think of something you like about
yourself.
· --Sit in a quiet place and think about when something went well. Practice that feeling every day for a week.
· --Write someone a thank you note.
· --Write it down, talk about it, think about it, re-live it, meditate.
· --Rinse and repeat.
“The
most beautiful way to start and end the day is with a grateful heart”
